In the UK alone, over 2.3 million people suffer from coronary heart disease. In the US there are 10 times more people who are prone to heart attacks. Over 475,000 people die in the US and UK from heart disease. The main reason behind these staggering numbers has to do with being pessimistic.
According to a recent study published by a group of researchers from the University College London, optimists are less likely to suffer from heart attacks, and usually live up to 10 years more. This study also concluded that pessimists are twice as likely to suffer more than one heart attack.
On the other hand, optimists are not just poised to live longer because they have a lower risk of heart attacks and stroke, but they also get to enjoy a happier life and make the most out of each moment of their lives.
Happify.com, a platform that promotes a happier lifestyle, has recently released an infographic that shows people why being optimist is a much better choice than being a pessimist. Here are some of the main reasons to stay optimist all throughout the day.
Enjoy a Longer Life

First of all, optimistic people are less likely to die because of heart attacks. Even smokers who are optimistic have more chances of giving up their bad habit and replacing it with healthier habits, such as eating fruits and vegetables or starting a new sport. Conversely, pessimists have a 19% increased risk of dying at a younger age than optimists.
A positive attitude keeps you well protected against cardiovascular problems and keeps your body healthy. Some researchers together with spiritual Christian leaders suggest that we as men can have a huge power over our bodies by simply thinking positive and declaring positive events. For instance, you can actually prolong your life by believing it and reminding yourself that you are healthy.
Caring for you the Proper Way

Optimism is a positive approach to life. Research suggests that staying positive leads to improved self-care, such as going to the doctor on a regular basis and getting check-ups in time. By staying positive, your life becomes suddenly more meaningful and you care more about how you live. The outcome is a prolonged life.
Cope Through Life

Again, research suggest than optimists can cope better with life when it gets tough. They are also straight-shooters and have more meaningful relationships. Optimistic people help others without asking anything in return, and are ready to be there for their peers and to lift them up.
Are you an optimistic or pessimistic person? Optimists live longer and have better lives. While pessimists can’t really make the most out of their lives and have more chances to die at younger ages. Stay optimistic and you will be able to live life at its fullest.
