Have you ever experienced an inner emptiness? All of us experience this at least once in our life time. Some may have repeating episodes. There are many things that can contribute to a sense of emptiness or isolation. This article will address the most common forms and provide some ways to combat these situations in a simple way. Some of the common forms are emotional isolation, intellectual isolation, social isolation and community isolation. So, let's take a look at each one separately.

There are times when you are experiencing emotional/spiritual changes which is a part of life, however this can wreak havoc with personal relationships. Suppose that earlier in time you felt that complaining about your life or others made you feel connected in your life but now you see that this was unhealthy behavior. Now, you want to change this by being around individuals who are open minded and not critical. To make the change, you need to find people that have these characteristics so you can become connected again and lose your sense of emotional/spiritual isolation.

If you are a person who is very intelligent and don't enjoy individuals who are not as well schooled, you may experience intellectual isolation. This presents itself when you can't relate something to the person who has lower schooling who really can't grasp it. This can be very frustrating and generate a sense of intellectual isolation. You can make an effort to find individuals who are working on a higher plane to begin reconnecting with humanity. This doesn't mean you're a snob. Perhaps you are wealthy and the people you know are not. This can bring about a social isolation because people you know are intimidated by wealth and essentially you get ignored and excluded. See if you can find individuals who are your equals monetarily. This could take a while but well worth the try so that you can connect and remove your isolation.

It is possible that you get a sense of isolation because of the structure of the community you live in. Back in the day, communities were small and everyone knew everyone for generations and community isolation was rare. Now, cities are large and we don't even know our neighbors so we are isolated in our communities. Even families are isolated because they live far away. You're simply going to have to make an effort and get to know your neighbors (actually you need each other) and begin joining clubs that have people with the same interests. Someone needs to watch your back.
