Do you drink alcohol rarely, sometimes or perhaps everyday? If you consume on a regular basis, you may have some issues. For some individuals, this can get out of hand and go south quickly. If you have concerns, check out the questions below to assess whether you have a drinking problem or not.
How many drinks and how quickly?

Are you a person that takes small sips and make it last for a long time? Many people enjoy the taste of certain beers and wines so they sit back and enjoy. They're not concerned with getting a serious buzz on but enjoy the little bit of relaxation they get. This is a healthy form of drinking. Are you a person who drinks rapidly to get a buzz on quickly and can't wait for another glass? This is a sign that you may have an issue and if this goes on everyday, you need to seriously consider getting help. Don't wait because it could cost you everything. You could lose your job, marriage, family and friends. Your life could change quickly and not for the better.
What time of the day do you drink?

If you have one drink after work once or twice a week, you should be alright. However, if the pace picks up, this is a symptom of more to come. Do you have drinks at lunch time and then again in evening? These are early warning signs that you are on your way to becoming an alcoholic. Do you find yourself drinking when you getup in the morning possibly because you have a hangover from the night before and this is going on day after day? You definitely have a drinking problem and need to get help.
Do you drink alone or socially?

If you drink socially, for example New Year's Eve, at weddings or reunions and don't over do it, you should be fine. However, do you drink alone at any time of the day? Drinking alone is a symptom of being an alcoholic. Take a closer look at your drinking habits and see if you can figure out what the problem is. Socialization is a normal behavior but drinking alone is not.
Do you know why you drink?

Ask yourself why you drink. Are you depressed or feel anxious? There are other ways to get rid of depression and anxiety. Alcohol is a known depressant so it will increase your depression issues and that is not what you want. You might talk with your health care provider and see if you can get a referral for therapist.
What kinds of alcohol do you imbibe?

If you're a person that drinks for flavor, you might be into certain beer (ales) or perhaps nice wines. No problem there. However, if you drink everything and anything no matter what it tastes like, you are having some serious issues. Time to get help.
